Frank Fenske receives Cultural Sponsorship Award from VR-Bank Coburg

13.5.2023
The managing director of the BID group of companies is a passionate ceramic artist in his spare time. He has now received his first award for one of his works.

In his professional life, Frank Fenske is managing director at BID group of companies together with his co-managing director, Markus Kolbinger. The provider of debt collection solutions is growing at a rapid pace and is now one of the leading companies in this sector in Germany. As one of the few competitors, BID offers all services in receivables management from a single source, both domestically and internationally.

Since his law studies, Frank Fenske has found creative balance to his desk work in ceramic art. "Creating something with my hands drives me," says the managing director of the BID group of companies. Frank Fenske has now received recognition for this passion for the first time – the VR-Bank Coburg awarded him this year's cultural sponsorship prize at the vernissage of the Coburg Summer Academy exhibition. Every year, the jury, with members from the Kunstverein and the Volkshochschule in Coburg, awards this prize to three special works of art that were created as part of the Coburg Summer Academy.

Frank Fenske received the Cultural Sponsorship Award for his work "Huhn, gefertigt in Plattentechnik" ("Chicken, made by using slab technique"). The title of the ceramic sculpture already gives an indication of the artistic technique used: "In the slab technique, clay slabs are shaped and joined together. This is how the sculpture is created." The fact that, in this case, the result was an abstract chicken is due to a certain fascination for the feathered fowl, says Frank Fenske. "I have this little personal dream to keep chickens on a suitable piece of land one day."

Until that time comes, he makes his chickens out of clay as works of art. And they are, as we now know, well worthy of a prize. Frank Fenske donated the prize money to FutureSpace/SFN Schülerforschungsnetzwerk gGmbH, in Kassel. The non-profit enterprise offers teachers and pupils new approaches and learning concepts with a focus on natural sciences.
